Elizabeth Day, installation view of Prison Wall on the Road to Parramatta and other works from Working in the Trouble, 2019, solo exhibition at Articulate Project Space, Sydney.

Elizabeth Day is a visual artist and arts facilitator whose career spans more than 30 years. She maintains a studio practice in Sydney, NSW, and Bruny Island, Tasmania.

“Creatively, Day’s work has been at the forefront of developments in feminist art practice, as it has engaged with issues of transportation, colonisation, migration, exile, and adaptation through practices of creating networks and histories: tracing traumas and sketching survivals […]

“Day’s work cultivates an alternative ecology founded on the ethics of care and generosity, an ethics that aspires to honour the equivalence of all things, and through that non-hierarchical acceptance, attempts to make amends for injuries both personal and historical.” Peter Hutchings, Discontinued Narratives: Elizabeth Day, edited by Nicholas Tsoutas, 2017.

Elizabeth Day is currently researching “Working in the Trouble”, a new Doctoral project at Deakin University. This research will develop a theoretical framework for 6-7 inter-related projects that Day has developed since 2013. MORE…
